Very Rare, Magnificent And Imposing Gien Cache-pot

This cache-pot is extremely rare in the production of the Gien earthenware factory. Nevertheless, this type of object with iridescent decoration is indeed listed in the production of the factory. We are in the presence of an imposing piece, approximately 35 cm at the widest part of its belly, 28 cm at the opening and 28 cm high. The similarity between the height and the opening gives an excellent balance to the silhouette of the piece. Its immense interest lies in this iridescent decoration. The metallic and moiré appearance was obtained by adding a mixture of metallic oxides reduced during firing. The result is astonishing, on a garnet red enameled background imitating metal, a decoration of foliage, chestnut leaves, launches moiré reflections ranging from gold to bronze green depending on the lighting. The creators of Gien express all their art here. The photos, difficult to produce, have great difficulty in restoring the real visual aspect.
