"Rare 17th Century Boxwood Christ. "
Very beautiful Christ in finely carved boxwood. Great softness of the face turned towards the sky and superb rendering of the hair. The perizonium tied on the left is remarkable for the finesse of the sculpture. The same is true of the remarkably rendered venous network on the arms. The unjoined feet and the presence of four wrought iron nails allow us to situate the work around the middle of the 17th century. Some missing parts on the fingers of the left hand and the left foot but this does not detract from the exceptional quality of this work. The total height for Christ is 26cm, opening of the arms: 19 cm. Dimension of the cross 42 x 25.
