Object description :

"Louis Eugène Desjobert 1817-1863. The Duck Pond 1857. Châteauroux Crozant Le Fay Rousseau"
Sublime and very rare painting on mahogany panel by Louis Eugène Desjobert representing a countryside landscape with a farm, a farmer's wife and a duck pond in the foreground, from 1857, signed and dated lower left + located and dated on the back but I have not been able to decipher. Size of the painting alone without frame 42x58.5cm and 59x76cm including frame. This is a very rare painting by Eugène Desjobert, the first one I have since I have been a specialist in Crozant painters, that is to say more than 20 years, to tell you....It therefore represents a lively countryside scene, we see a farm surrounded by trees, a pond with two ducks in the foreground and on the right a farmer's wife in an orchard; sublimely painted work, the touch is incredibly precise, as for the palette of great subtlety; In short, beautiful and large paintings worthy of the best painters of the mid-19th century, Desjobert does not have to be ashamed of his colleagues who painted at the same time and in the same area, on the other hand much better known such as Théodore Rousseau, the Dupré brothers, Cagnat, Castan, Le Gentile etc... Like them and like his friend and compatriot Just Veillat also from Châteauroux, he is attached to the schools of Fay and Crozant (see catalog on these schools). Born in Châteauroux, he is therefore part of the local painters alongside Veillat, Le Gentile, Desjardins (see work for sale), Perret, Roger etc... Louis Rémy Eugène Desjobert (Châteauroux, April 16, 1817 - Paris, October 25, 1863) is a French watercolor painter, draftsman and lithographer. Student of André Jolivard then of Théodore Caruelle d'Aligny, he began at the Salon of 1842 and won three medals, one at the Salon of 1855, another at the Salon of 1857 and a final medal at the Salon of 1861. He is responsible for many landscapes, many of which are in private collections. His health was fragile. He suffered from an eye disease that threatened to make him blind; he died at the age of 46 in 1863. He was decorated with the Legion of Honor in July 1863. According to several Salon catalogs, the painter Armand Beauvais was his student. His works are therefore rare on the art market, so we can note very good results when they go to auction, with pushes up to more than €10,000 for large formats, otherwise its average rating is around €2,500 This oil on panel is therefore its original state, in very good condition for its 160 years, moreover delivered in a beautiful period gilded frame. Painting guaranteed authentic
