Fine Case, Wood & Basketwork, 6 Artificial Spurs "tajis", Cockfights, Indonesia ? 19thc

A charming wooden case, free-form, and its elegant braided basketwork closure, reveals 6 formidable engraved and shaped steel blades. They are compartmentalized in sets of three, in the two parts of the case. Beautiful quality steel, the blades are still sharp. The "Tajis" were used for cockfights, attached to the legs, they thus served as artificial spurs and allowed a faster and more radical end to the fights, and probably also to the bets.
Good general condition, traces of wear, use and marks of time. I did not dare to clean them. Asian working, probably Indonesia, dating from the second half of the 19th century.

Blades dimensions: between 10 and 12cm
