"Rare Louis XVI Commode In Natural Wood With Curved Shape, Late 18th Century "
Rare Louis XVI chest of drawers in waxed natural wood, concave in shape in its upper part. It rests on four sheathed feet. Its four uprights are all fluted and curved at the top. It opens on the front with four drawers in three rows, the upper row has two drawers also curved and separated from each other by a fluted frame. All the drawer fronts are worked in flat strip and decorated with ring-shaped pull handles. Three drawers out of four have a lock, all our locks work. Only two keys are provided, in fact one allows the closing of the two top drawers. The keys are original. Our drawers slide perfectly. The sides of our chest of drawers are divided into three flat strip panels, the top one being curved. It is topped with a solid wood top decorated with a molding around its perimeter. Please note, a slight veil on the top, some traces of woodworms, a little wear on two lock entries at the level of the key passage, (see photos), all due to use and age, without any influence on the aesthetics of this piece of furniture with undeniable charm. Very beautiful regional work (probably from the southwest) from the end of the 18th, very beginning of the 19th century.
