Born in Odessa, a Russian nationalized French, Adolphe Feder settled in Paris in 1908 after attending the School of Fine Arts in Berlin. He studied at the Académie Julian, then worked in Matisse's studio.
He became an important player in the School of Paris, in the circle of artists from Montparnasse, Modigliani, Lipchitz, Othon Friesz... He exhibited in the main Parisian Salons since 1912, the Galeries Druet and Bernheim devoted a personal exhibition to him in 1928.
With Larionov and Zadkine, he was one of the most active members of the Society of Russian Artists, which brought together the artists of La Ruche. He was deported in 1942 and died in Auschwitz in 43.
His work comes from a certain cubist aestheticism, which can be found in this landscape, with its beautiful construction and soft harmonies marked by a nostalgia characteristic of the School of Paris.
