Mahogany Desk, Directoire Style – 1920

This solid mahogany desk with original English veneer opens at the waist with two drawers highlighted by ebony and lemonwood fillets. These drawers, fitted with drop handles with bronze rosettes, are equipped with original locks with inlaid entries accompanied by their keys. The four legs are sheathed and also highlighted by lemonwood fillets. The top, veneered and also decorated with fillets on the frame and the edge, is dressed in fawn-colored leather with gold vignettes. This top, with steps, offers two new drawers, with chiseled brass knob and concave lids mounted on hinges. Each of these lids is inlaid with four mitered elements and a central one forming an oval.
