"Rare Small Money Changer's Desk, 18th Century."
Small sloping desk with two separable parts, thanks to six large screws on the sides and the back. This allowed easier movement, in relation to the profession of money changer which consisted of exchanging the currency of a country or region for that of the city where a fair was held, also to the granting of loans. We can note the reinforcement of the locks and the solid metal flap pulls. The stop, on this one, allowed a quick written operation, avoiding its opening. The flap, thanks to the pulls became a real desk, opening on six small drawers in 'crossbow'. Below is a large drawer, equipped with an imposing lock. "Four-sided" furniture, with four large scalloped crosspieces. Keys, locks and bronze entries are original. The whole rests on four arched legs, with strong shoulders, ending in 'doe hooves'. Very 'dense' regional furniture, of solid and careful construction, from the 18th century.
