"Curiosa: Champagne Fountain Statue Circa 1830"
Curiosa: Rare licentious terracotta statue representing a lady dressed in Restoration fashion, with a Giraffe hairstyle. A very fine creation. This character in a crouching position, skirt raised, performing a natural need (anatomy depicted with great realism). An orifice is made at the back of the garment near the waist, which allowed champagne to be served, which flowed from this point to the "origin of the World" and then flowed into the cup. The original base, now disappeared, was hollowed out with a location to receive the cup. Good used condition. Circa 1830. H 114 cm W 59 cm D 57 cm
