Exceptional Pair of Empire style wall lights after a model by Claude Gallé with Four Branches. in two tones, in gilded chiseled bronzes and with a Dark Green Brown patina. Architecture of the wall light: The shaft in the shape of a sheath representing a draped winged Woman of Fame, "Victory in the antique style" resting with her feet on a sphere and holding with her arms placed along the body the branches of light, four in number in the shape of horns of Abundance light holder with basin and palmette forming a socket, Ornamentation of Lions' heads, mascarons, griffins and a laurel crown with star and ribbon, Applique torch, acanthus leaves. The two front arms with representation of stylized old men's heads in a crown and with palmettes after a model by Claude Gallé Bronzier (1759 - 1815). Large and superb Dimensions: Height 57 Width 32 cm Depth 17 cm identical to the Empire models. Claude Galle delivered an identical pair in 1808 for the Château de Compiègne and for Le garde meuble (Mobilier National). A pair was delivered by the merchant haberdashery Darrac in 1809 for the bedroom of the Empress's apartment at the Palais Rohan in Strasbourg.
