"A Bright Yellow 'fleur-de-lis' Floortile, 14th Century "
This is one of the first colored floor tiles with a fleur-de-lis pattern from Flanders.

What does the fleur-de-lis pattern represent? The fleur-de-lis or lily is mentioned several times in the Bible and symbolizes purity and divine beauty. The white lily, also called the Madonna lily, is often depicted next to the Blessed Virgin Mary. This flower represents her virginity and purity. It is also a symbol of power and nobility in castles and residences. It became the emblem of the kings of France during the Middle Ages, under the reign of Louis VII.

This is one of the first encaustic tiles made in Flanders (Belgium).

The tile is in very good condition and NOT restored.
