Emile Joseph Patoux (Mellet, 1893 - Brussels, 1985).
Belgian painter. He studied at the academies of Nivelles, Brussels and The Hague. Painter and architect, he was a professor and director of the Academy of Watermael-Boitsfort. He produced realistic portraits, nudes and landscapes in fresh and clear colours, imbued with a joyful atmosphere. In the 1920s, he adopted a divisionist technique with an impressionist character. He is the author of cartoons for stained glass windows and paintings for the decoration of buildings in Brussels Maritime, as well as the ornamentation of the Tervuren Palace.
