Empire - Bangle Set With Garnets And Pearls

A very old antique bangle dating from the 18th or 19th century, set with Garnets (in foil) and Pearls in gilded metal.  Foiling,  is a technique of improving the colour of precious stones, whereby a thin sheet of metal or another material (sometimes colored) is placed behind the precious stone, in order to reflect more light. This technique was used in particular in the 17th and 18th centuries.

There are a few stones missing but it is not really noticeable because the foil is of a similar color to that of the Garnets.

As a bangle there is no clasp. Suitable for a thin hand or a teenager, or for a collecter.
