"Eugène Villon (1879-1951) Watercolor "setting Sun At Camaret" Brittany "
Watercolor by Eugène Villon, signed lower left. Dimensions: 36x26cm at sight, 51x41cm with its frame. The artist represented Camaret in the evening with shapes that are easily distinguishable, but which, for one, may not be familiar to a resident of Camaret today. The silhouette between the Vauban tower and that of the Chapel, is in fact, that of an old water tower which no longer exists today, 'A virtuoso artist, very honored during his lifetime (gold medal at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1934), Eugène Villon excelled in all pictorial techniques, but was above all a master of watercolor. Brittany and Finistère in particular were a great source of inspiration for him as our painting shows.
