Beautiful Renaissance Architectural Key, Rare Example 16th Century France,

Amazing French key,16th century, decorated with an antique monument,
flat ring cut with saw, resting on a rectangular base-base with steps and dotted with engraved dots, semi-spherical boss with two rings, drilled rod, open pierced bit engraved of thread, 5-tooth muzzle,
11.3cm x 3.1cm…
Saw work and bit are clearly of French typology, the monument is reminiscent of gate of Palace of Fontainebleau. I have not found anything similar in documentation.
Beautiful collector's key, used condition, beautiful patina, wear and bruises on hollow rod and traces of oxidation on one side of bit, see photos.
Probable period: François 1er or Henri II, circa 1550.
