Dance crest presenting the spirit of the god "Atshol". It rests on a stepped circular base and it has an elongated head characteristic of these crests. Dimensions: 38 x 33 cm "They were worn during ceremonies during the festivals preceding the harvest periods. This is an "archaic" example that can be classified in a corpus of objects made at the end of the 19th century. Hard wood, erosion of time (see photos). Old patina of use and traces of mineral dyes Baga, coastal region of Guinea Bissau 19th century. Provenance: Former private collection.
