Oil on canvas, "Still life with peaches and apricots" signed lower right Nessi. 38 X 46 cm. French school. Marie Lucie Nessi-Valtat (1910-1992) was a student of André Lhote (1885-1962) and a friend of Léonard Foujita (1886-1968) and Moïse Kisling (1891-1953). In 1932, she became the daughter-in-law of Louis Valtat (1869-1952) whose son Jean she married. The artist's talent is on a par with that of her famous father-in-law. Throughout her career, Marie Lucie Nessi developed her own imagination and a strong sensitivity that now give her the place she deserves in the world of art. Her painted work is underrated.
