An 18k gold ring set with an oval shaped amethyst weighing approximately 10 cts.
Circa 1850.
Dimensions of the amethyst : 20,3 x 12,5 x 8 mm approx.
Size : 50 (modifiable).
Weight : 7,3 g (18k – 750/1000 – owl hallmark).
Condition : Very nice model of the Second Empire. Amethysts were very popular stones, marrying well with fabrics and outfits of the time. The setting of this ring is very finely made. The ring itself is well thought out to be consistent with the dimension of the ring: the opening in two rings allows to avoid a massive appearance.
The ring is in perfect condition. Some micro-scratches of use on gold and amethyst. The latter has a nice pinkish purple color.
