Object description :

"Gilded Silver Chalice And Its Paten. France Circa 1900, Demarquet Frères And Favier Frères "
Chalice and paten in gilded silver in the neo-Gothic style. The six-lobed and ogee base, surrounded by small pearls, forms a terrace decorated with finely chiseled Eucharistic decorations in repoussé: ears of wheat, bunches of vines in high relief and domed water leaves, all on a guilloche background. Among this decoration, a cross pattée adorns the foot of the chalice. The shaft is tubular, decorated with a collar of pearls and a flattened knot, also with six lobes, decorated on each side with guilloche shells, themselves surrounded by friezes of pearls. The cup, slightly conical in shape and with a straight edge, is set in a saucer with pinnacles which takes up the same ornamentation as the terrace of the foot. Weighted foot. France, circa 1900. French hallmarks for export 950/1000 on the cup, the false cup and the edge of the terrace. This chalice was made by the Parisian workshop Demarquet Frères around 1900. The gilded silver paten that accompanies this chalice is perfectly adapted to both the decoration of the chalice and the size of its cup. Chalice: Height: 24.3 cm Base diameter: 15.5 cm Cup diameter: 9.6 cm Gross weight: 454 g The paten is decorated with an openwork pattern engraved with Easter symbols. Minerva hallmark 950/1000 Master goldsmith: Favier Frères Diameter: 14.5 cm Weight of the paten: 129 g Very good condition / no damage, no shocks, no scratches. Please note: wear of the gilding on the inside of the cup and on the paten.
