Bonnardel was one of the best painters of the Lyon school of the period 1900-1925. Born in the Dauphiné, after studying at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Lyon, he was appointed professor at the same establishment where he worked for almost twenty years. Among his students, we can cite Léonie Humbert-Vignot (for works by her see also my gallery). He resigned in 1918 after an affair with a student. Bonnardel's wife was also a painter, specializing in flowers, and they both lived in Saint-Cyr-au-Mont-d'Or.
Thie amber and sky blue liqueur cup, is the “George Sand” model created by the Portieux crystal factory circa 1900.
