SABRE OF A SENIOR OFFICER OF A MUSKETEER OF THE 1ST COMPANY OF THE MILITARY HOUSE OF THE KING, Restoration. 30040 Gilt bronze mount. Guard with six branches forming a shell (one main one, four at the front and one rear branch) richly decorated in relief with laurel leaves and chiseled. On the front part the shell is openwork with the Musketeers' Cross fleur-de-lysée with a silver central part. Short-tailed cap, also richly decorated with oak and laurel branches and the Musketeers' Cross. Wooden handle covered in black waxed and filigree calfskin. Straight blade with double hollow sides engraved with a cartouche with floral decorations and in the center the Musketeers' Cross. On the heel, a cartouche signed "DUC fourbisseur de la maison du roi rue S. honoré n° 251". The back of the blade is signed "Frères Weyersberg à Solingen". All these decorations and cartouches are gilded with a blued background. Blade length 92 cm, width at the heel 2.7 cm, thickness 8 mm. Black patent leather scabbard with three gilt bronze fittings framed by moldings engraved in relief with foliage. Olive-shaped steel dart with rivet. France. Restoration. Near new condition, high-quality gilding NOTE: This sabre model is very rare. It was often copied at the end of the 19th century. This example is one of the rare originals that have come down to us with its original first model leather scabbard.
