SABRE OF OFFICER OF AIDE-DE-CAMP, model of the 1st Vendémiaire Year XII (September 24, 1803), First Empire. 29859 Gilt bronze mount. Single-branch guard. Rectangular crossguard decorated with an antique helmet on a military trophy background, the lower part of the crossguard is decorated with a palmette, curved quillon ending with a lion's head. Square-section guard branch ending in the upper part with an openwork palmette. Short-tailed pommel simply decorated with a crown of oak branches at the level of the cap and a pearl ribbon at the lower part. Grip in striated ebony at an angle. White faux Damascus blade with mirror-polished cartouche and oriental inscription, curved, flat back, length 83.4 cm. Blued steel scabbard with four gilt bronze fittings. Scabbard entrance in relief following the shape of the ear. Two rectangular bail bracelets with protruding moldings, centers of the bracelets decorated with a rectangular cartouche with a sandblasted background. Long bouterolle decorated at the top with a sandblasted ribbon with fleurons and foliage framed by a protruding molding, and the lower end representing wavy leaves on a sandblasted background.
