SABRE OF A SENIOR OFFICER OF THE BODY GUARDS OF THE MILITARY HOUSEHOLD OF THE KING, model 1816, Restoration. 29809 Gilded brass guard specific to officers in its design, with four branches forming a shell decorated with the Arms of France under a royal crown and on a background of a bundle of flags and oak and laurel branches. Main branch decorated in relief with a branch of oak leaves, the three secondary branches are decorated in their upper part with laurel leaves. Cap specific to senior officers with a long tail richly decorated in relief with corollas of foliage, palmettes, acanthus leaves, top of the cap decorated with gadroons. Wooden handle covered with gray shagreen filigree with silver. Gilded brass ferrule decorated with line. Curved blade with double hollow side, richly decorated on its half. On its front face, the heel is gilded, engraved "Coulaux Frères"; the heel is topped with a rich decoration of engraved and gilded foliage on a blue background, a white cartouche bearing the inscription "GARDE DU CORPS DU ROI", then a fleur-de-lys, a military trophy and a second fleur-de-lys with foliage scrolls. The back face has a golden heel engraved "Manufre du Klingenthal", this cartouche is topped with military trophies engraved in gold on a blue background, then the arms of France and the face of the sun on a radiant background. Length 93 cm. Steel scabbard with two steel bail bracelets and a cup at the entrance to the cast brass scabbard. Brass cup screw. France. Restoration. Very good condition, blueing of the blade faded.
