Description: An elegant bronze sculpture of French origin, dating back to the early 20th century. It represents Perseus, the hero of Greek mythology celebrated for slaying Medusa, the serpent-haired Gorgon.
Perseus is depicted with an athletic, finely sculpted body, triumphantly holding up the head of Medusa, whose expression is intense and dramatic.
The base is also highly elaborate, adorned with decorative ornaments and figures.
This work is a beautiful example of how, in the early 20th century, bronze casting was used to revisit classical mythological themes, highlighting an interest in classical aesthetics and symbolism.
