The pictorial imagination of Carles Gabarró (Barcelona,
1956) was born in the 1980s. In Paris, he heard the
attraction of painting and embarked on a free and self-taught artistic journey
in a living context marked by the emergence of German neo-expressionist painting, the
Italian Transavant-garde or the triumph of new Spanish painting. Gabarró thus applies himself to the articulation of a metaphorical and dark painting, born
from listening to his most intimate obsessions - the condition
human nature, solitude, death, and to the creation of pictorial motifs - skulls, libraries, beds, shipwreck - which link with contemporary and universal painting.
He builds a work with an expressive base, but also
structured and meditative, to which, despite the vagaries of art. the painting on the back is signed and dated with several dates, probably executed several times.
