This beautiful old Mechkabad from the beginning of the 20th century measures 125 cm wide and 210 cm long.
This piece is in good condition, the wool is thick, soft and of good quality. Beautiful artifact, uncommon, ideal piece to start a collection.
From the Kadjar dynasty (1789 - 1925)
# Note the differences in the design, looking at the flowers, the medallion ...., some elements are different, which proves the artisanal quality of this rug These rugs come from the village of Mechkabad in Iran.
They were called Mahal and then Sarouk-mahal, because they come from the Mahallat region.
The city of Mechkabad, very important in the 19th century, was a large center of carpet production.
Today this destination is not even mentioned on the maps.
A deep red medallion placed on a midnight blue field of the most beautiful effect, cut in peach for our model (or ivory) on the sides and corners, is the design found on these carpets.
Two large stylized pendants in the shape of halberds accompany the medallion, in the length of this piece.
These pieces are always abundantly flowered and the design of the stylized flowers of the medallion is often found in the spandrels.
Unfortunately many people confuse them with other types of carpets and origins.
Such fresh and deep colors indicate a carpet whose wool has been dyed naturally.
Velvet in very good condition, selvedges in good condition, original fringes.
Very resistant carpet, knotted with quality wools.
Our model is in good condition for its age and has the characteristics described above.
This rug has been professionally and ecologically cleaned.
