"A 'fleur-de-lis' Floortile, 16th Century"
A beautiful tile in wonderful condition. Circa 1500.

What does the fleur-de-lis motif represent? The fleur-de-lis or lily is mentioned several times in the Bible and symbolizes purity and divine beauty. The white lily, also called the Madonna lily, is often depicted next to the Blessed Virgin Mary. This flower represents her virginity and purity. It is also a symbol of power and nobility in castles and residences. It became the emblem of the kings of France during the Middle Ages, under the reign of Louis VII.

Origin: Flanders (Belgium).
Dimensions: 13 x 13 x 2.7 cm
The tile is in very good condition and NOT restored.
