"Numismatic Gallery Of The Kings Of France 74 Copper Medals Made By A. Caque 1795-1881"
This numismatic gallery contains two tables of medals, 74 in total, where the profiles of the Kings and Emperor of France appear. The first table begins with Pharamond (420-428) and stops at Hugues Capet (987-996) the 2nd table continues with Henry I (1031-1060) until Louis Philippe (1830-1848) These medals are in embossed copper sheet, fixed on two original blackened wooden panels, the fabric has been changed, by a yellow silk velvet. The engraver Auguste CAQUE (1795-1881) was the official engraver of Napoleon III. These medals had been commissioned by the daughter of Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette, Marie Thérèse of France nicknamed Madame Royale (1778-1851). This set of medals was exhibited at the Salons of 1836 and 1839.
