Very nice portrait of an officer around 1820.Painted on a mirror and fixed under glass, techniques requiring great virtuosity since the mirror must be partially scraped on the back to be able to apply the pictorial material.
The mirror is old, with mercury.
The glass is also old, with a nice luminosity and small bubbles.
In a wooden frame painted in dark gray.
The whole gives off a lot of charm.
Sold as is, there are fine scratches on the mirror.
