In the background, stained glass windows are depicted in a rectilinear fashion, in keeping with the rigor of the lines of this period. The Virgin Mary is represented here with her symbolic attributes: the veil, the halo, and roses, which are not only associated with her as symbols of universal Love, but are also quite characteristic of Art Deco iconography in general.
