"Pendant Medal Notre Dame De Paris Rose Nord XIII Enamel Plique à Jour On Yellow Gold"
Round medal pendant in 750/°° yellow gold (18 KT, eagle's head hallmark) representing the North rose window of Notre Dame de Paris Cathedral..... This medieval rose window from the 13th century is part of the triptych of roses located on the west, north and south facades, which constitute the cathedral's most important and oldest glass heritage. These three roses honor the patron saint of the cathedral, the Virgin Mary. In the north arm of the transept, the rose window represents the Virgin surrounded by figures from the Old Testament, prophets, kings and judges. This stylized representation takes up the colors by means of polychrome enamel, plique à jour, a process creating a transparency effect like stained glass windows. An inscription in the mass of the medal refers to this representation: a cross followed by the inscription " NOTRE DAME de PARIS - ROSE NORD XIII". The back of the more anonymous medal does not take up this engraving. A beautiful way to welcome the reopening of the Cathedral on December 8, after 5 years of work. (Presented on a yellow gold filed curb chain sold separately under the reference ES5911). Gross weight: 3.37 g Condition: slight micro-scratches imperceptible to the naked eye.
