- This tapestry is characteristic of the Verdures produced between the 17th and 18th centuries in the Aubusson region. Of an infinite variety, the Verdures remain a constant in the production of these workshops which make it one of their favorite themes. It was a very exported mass production for a clientele delighted to find a decorative object refreshing their interiors, and even more so when these weavings were hung in several to form a "green room" If the exhibition of a green nature is their main theme, their differences lie in particular in the quality of the design, the fineness of the weaving and their border. The tapestry that we observe has a decorative border deploying elegant motifs of flowers and various ornaments carefully composed, arranged in the form of candelabras, in symmetrical compositions on a brown background. Note the original ornaments linked to the aquatic world (dolphins, shells). The border, also dating from the 18th century, is reported.
