OFFICER'S AIDE-DE-CAMP SWORD PRESENTED IN A CASE, Second Empire - Third Republic. 29530R Gilt bronze mount. Clavier decorated with an antique helmet with a sword placed on a crown of oak and laurel branches, against a background of a bundle of flags. Folding counter-clavier. Pommel decorated on each side with a spindle of winged Jupiter. Brass filigree horn hilt. Double-sided blade with central ridge, 78 cm long, signed on the heel "A Chassepot ENTREPeur a Châtellerault". Scarlet cloth tie. Grand dress scabbard in black patent leather with two gilt brass fittings and ordinary dress scabbard in nickel-plated steel. The set is presented in a wooden case covered in black morocco, interior trimmed in burgundy velvet, closing with two nickel silver pivot locks, with a handle in the same metal engraved with the initials "FM". Length of the box 107.5 cm, width 18 cm, H 8.5 cm. France. Second Empire - Third Republic. Sword in perfect condition close to new despite an accident and missing watermark on 2 cm. Case in very good condition with some rubbing on the lid.
