"Spanish School (18th-19th Century) - The Standard Of Castile"
- Oil on canvas. - Although it has a primordial role in the configuration of the modern Spanish nation, the feudal kingdom of Castile has a confused and complicated origin as a vassal territory of the Leonese monarchs, which it ended up subsuming under its all-powerful influence. Difficult to read heraldically, the left quarter corresponds to the traditional golden band of Castile, supported by dragon heads, while the right quarter abstractly represents the battlements of the many castles of the territory. Around the complex are two emblems of the military power and audacity of its natives: the chains taken from the Almohad caliph in the battle of Las Navas de Tolosa, and the Golden Fleece, a Burgundian insignia assumed by the Spanish monarch as a dynastic order. - Dimensions of the image without frame: 54 x 42 cm / 64 x 52 cm with magnificent framing. - It comes from a private collection of paintings in Madrid. - Good general condition. Minimal defects. - This painting is a unique, original and irreplaceable work of art. - Galerie Montbaron includes a technical sheet drawn up by a qualified art historian with all its lots.
