"Verriau Provençal, Walnut, 18th Century."
This small wall-mounted piece of furniture was found in Provençal country houses, near the estanié, the panetière, the salt and flour boxes (flour box), visible on this page. Beautiful glassware was stored there: glasses, cups, carafes, oil lamps, etc. It opens with a glass and arched door, equipped with large original fittings. The window surround is patterned with "rice grains". The lower crosspiece, openwork and very lively, is decorated with a flower vase. The upper one, also lively, is carved with olive branches, with a ring surrounded by "rice grains" in the center. The sides are a straight panel, with slightly curved crosspieces. It is topped with a cornice with a "gendarme's hat" and rests on arched front legs, with scrolls and ending in 'sabots'. Beautiful Provencal work, from the Aix en Provence region, from the 18th century.
