Better known for his paintings than for his stained glass windows, Jacques Roger Simon discovered the art of stained glass in Chartres with Charles Lorin. The painter met the master glazier while he was in Chartres, hospitalized following injuries from the 1914-1918 war. Subsequently, the two men would create together the stained glass windows of the church of Carolles (Manches) and those of the church of Marquilles (Nord).
Jacques Roger Simon is as much an orientalist painter as a French landscaper. We owe him beautiful representations of Brittany and Normandy. He also painted interior scenes, still lifes and animals.
