Desk lamp called Siren or Mermaid, designed by Eileen Gray for the lamp publisher Jumo in the 1930s/1940s. Famous and influential architect and designer of Irish origin, Eileen Gray was also a member of the Union of Modern Artists. Her creations are the subject of price records in auctions. This lamp is made of metal, aluminum and brass, the diffuser in celluloid, the body decorated with a cartouche representing a siren playing the lyre. It is in good condition, apart from a few stains on the top of the lampshade as it appears in a photo; it is in working order. Height 48 cm Lampshade diameter 38 cm Base diameter 19 cm.
