He discovered metal sculpture with Philippe Hiquily in the early 70s. In 1975, after a stay in the Algerian Sahara, he began to sculpt sand roses in brass. Fascinated by the very process of the formation of the desert for which he experienced a real thunderbolt, he began a research by questioning the slow work of the elements on the sand and the rock. "It is there," he will say, "that I tried to make a way for myself to express myself with sand, wind, and perhaps one day with fire." In tones that are most often ochre or golden, the sculptor gives birth to compositions rich in a secret telluric force from which all traces of tools have been carefully erased.
