"Surrealist Painting By Augustin Chevalier 1983"
Imposing oil on panel dating from 1881. The frame is custom-made for the Brussels framer Schleiper et fils. Auguste Chevalier was a professional doctor and a Belgian artist born in 1929. He was a painter, draftsman, photographer and author. He was also self-taught. He mixes surrealism and symbolism in his imaginary landscapes. Later, the woman, represented in a sophisticated line, appeared as a chosen theme.
