"Large 17th Century Cabinet In Blond Walnut"
Large 17th century cabinet, in solid walnut, inlaid with geometric mahogany patterns. The drawer pull handles are in wrought iron and gilded with leaf (wear), in the shape of a scallop shell, recalling the most important of the patron saints of Spain. It is a solid piece of travel furniture, originally closed by a flap and a hasp (they have disappeared) with a rustic exterior like a chest, reinforced with ironwork, intended to follow its owner on his travels, to serve as a work track and a hiding place for his treasures. It has secrets, in order to hide letters and coins. This is a piece of furniture of Spanish origin, called in its country Bargueno, often enriched with ivory and gilding. Here the bias is more sober but elegant with its geometric patterns, with this intarsia technique. The door locks are missing, but the whole is in good condition. The transport arrangements will be determined.
