"CARTER | n° 24 | RUE DE L'ODÉON", First half of the 19th century, Unfolded case: 36 x 15 cm | Closed: 22 x 6 cm, Case in long-grain garnet morocco and interior lined with black morocco, steel instruments and ebony handles.Antique case from the workshop of W. CARTER: Williams-Leiwelles, English cutler who set up in 1819 on Place de l'Odéon, in Paris. Includes 5 instruments, 2 of which are signed by the cutler with pliers, a blade called a laurel leaf, and a tenaculum with a guilloché ebony handle and two scalpels. Complete kit, instruments signed by this cutler are rather rare.
