Roberto Sebastian Matta-Clark was a 20th century painter, printmaker and architect. Father of the famous architect Gordon Matta-Clark, Sebastian was an important protagonist of Surrealism and paved the way for American Abstract Expressionism with his work.
His works explore visionary worlds and inner landscapes that draw on the human psyche and unconscious. He uses strong, contrasting tones to amplify the sense of mystery, creating visual tension.
The lithographs presented reproduce his imagination and his reflections on the subconscious. Inside an original folder, there are 5 lithographs made in 1976 measuring 50x70 cm, printed on arches paper for ‘Edizioni della Pergola’. Out of 75 print-runs, those presented are copy no. 44. They all have signatures in the lower right-hand corner and print run numbering in the lower left-hand corner.
The state of preservation is good.
