Large gilded mirror with carved wooden pediment, Regency period, Louis XIV style, early 18th century

This sumptuous Regency period mirror, dating from the first third of the 18th century, reflects the elegance and decorative richness of the Louis XIV style. Made of finely carved wood and gilded with gold leaf, it is distinguished by its magnificent pediment decorated with arabesque scrolls.
In the center, a graceful woman's head is surrounded by a leafy shell, while two bowls overflowing with flowers are placed on either side on the edges, accentuating the harmony of the composition.
The lower part has a double glazing frame, where the mercury mirrors, framed with finely worked rods, reveal a Bérain style decor.
This decoration is embellished with scrolls of delicately sculpted foliage, which emphasize the extraordinary finesse of the execution.

It should be noted that the central glass was replaced in the 19th century and is no longer mercury, which does not detract from its authenticity or its charm.
