The sculpture is a realistic representation of the young Marie-Antoinette, made with attention to detail.
The bust itself is in good condition. Only its base has an old restoration.
Ernest-Eugène Chrétien, French sculptor, was born on June 14, 1840 in Elbeuf (Seine Maritime). He was a student of Auguste Dumont at the École des Beaux-Arts in Marseille. He exhibited in 1868 in Paris at the Salon. At the Universal Exhibition of 1889, he won a bronze medal and a silver medal at the Universal Exhibition of 1900. Ernest-Eugène Chrétien died on June 12, 1909 in Paris.
