"Albert Grenier: Marine At The Port, 1912, Oil On Canvas"
Albert Guillaume Grenier (1858–1925) was a painter and etcher from Toulouse, a fellow student of Toulouse-Lautrec, Van Gogh, Anquetin and Laval at the Fernand Cormon studio in Montmartre. With his partner, the actress Amélie Sans, known as "Lili", they organised large receptions and costume parties in their apartment and studio at 19 bis rue Fontaine in Montmartre, in which Toulouse-Lautrec participated. Lautrec and Grenier shared the same studio until Lautrec moved to rue Caulaincourt in 1886. The Greniers also owned two houses in Villiers-sur-Morin and frequently hosted Toulouse-Lautrec, who stayed with them during the winter of 1887. A very fine work from Grenier's maturity (The port has not been recognised), signed and dated lower right: A. Grenier 1912.
