Eugene Petit - Oil On Canvas 19th- Hunting Dogs

Lovely painting by Eugene PETIT who depicted a Gordon setter and an English setter standing in the heather in front of a flock of ducks.
The nuances of color of the vegetation bring a very nice contrast to the work and give it a wild aspect.

Eugene PETIT was a student of Ed. Muller and Dieterle. He made his debut at the Paris Salon in 1863 and won a medal in 1873.
He specialized in still life paintings of flowers and fruits, he is also known for his hunting scenes.

His works are present in the museums of Carcassonne, Compiègne, Courtrai, Rouen, Saint-Etienne, London...

Eugene PETIT's hunting scenes are highly sought after by collectors and can exceed 5,000 euros in auction houses / galleries !
