MODERN ART-DRAWING-ANIMIST SYMBOLISM THE COUPLE 1962 JEAN AUJAME WATERCOLOR AND GOUACHE ON PAPER Jean Aujame, French painter and lithographer. He attended the École des Beaux-Arts in Rouen (1922-1923), and later created the Société de Artistes Normands. He was influenced by symbolism, mythology, particularly Celtic, animism, which led him to an animist symbolism and/or a figurative representation of abstraction. In 1959, he was appointed professor at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts. He is also quite often associated with the École de Paris.
