Object description :

"Inlaid Commode - Northern Italy Lombardy Furniture - 18th / 19th Century Furniture"
Lombard Commode, Northern Italy, Late 18th Century - Early 19th Century

Rare Lombard chest of drawers, made of walnut and decorated with magnificent marquetry in fruit wood, bone and mother-of-pearl.
This exceptional piece of furniture is distinguished by its inlaid decoration representing deer, wolf and wild boar hunting scenes, themes popular with the aristocracy of the time.

The curved and arched facade opens with three drawers with finely carved crosspieces with egg friezes of flowers and foliage.

Each drawer, as well as the upper tray, whose remarkable marquetry illustrates a specific type of hunting and a different painting in each part, echoing the art of living and the hunting traditions of the Lombard nobility.

This model of chest of drawers was produced in a very small series, reinforcing its unique character and its value as a collector's item.

Condition: In good general condition (small marquetry restoration to be provided at the end of the 2 front legs and cleaning), with its period patina and its decorated paper stuck in each drawer. Original handle and keyhole.

Origin: Lombardy, Northern Italy.
Manufacturing period: from the 18th to the beginning of the 19th centuries.

Dimensions:
                      Width 76.5 cm.
                      Depth 45 cm.
                      Height 83 cm.

Ideal for lovers of inlaid furniture or for elegant and refined decoration.
