"Orientalist The Charge Of The War Elephants 1910"
French School representing a charge of war elephants (with hangings on the sides as well as the installation of a howdah on the back of the animal) evolving on what seems to be a battlefield under a threatening sky, silhouettes resembling riders with lances on each side, the low angle shot gives an almost cinematographic style and reinforces the feeling of crushing of the scene. Historical scene (Hannibal, Salambo) in the taste and touch of Fernand Cormon (1845-1924), master who had many students who became famous, notably Toulouse Lautrec, Emile Bernard... Nervous and thrown touch on the edge of abstraction. Signed Felix and dated 1910 lower right stamp merchant of colors Paris on the back Framed
