"Cast Of The Louvre After The Portal Of Notre-dame De Corbeil"
The original limestone statues from around 1180-1190 come from the western portal of Notre Dame de Corbeil and are now kept at the Louvre Museum after having been kept for many years in the abbey church of Saint-Denis. They are column statues, belonging to both architecture and sculpture. They represent King Solomon clutching a book with an ornate clasp against his body and in his right hand he holds a short scepter with a fleuron; and the Queen of Sheba holding a phylactery that falls down her left side. A beautiful jewel closes her bodice and her waist is marked by a rolled belt...
Condition report: Chips on the base, wear and beautiful old patina.
